Is it secret, is it safe?

We live in an age where everything is data and data is everything. Information is almost always used electronically, which renders it susceptible to unauthorised viewing, copying, distribution, deformation or destruction. And even when it's in analogue form (think back to paper) it can be read by prying eyes, photocopied, even recovered from black bin liners by the back door - just ask the banks.

Signing NDAs and hoping for the best simply isn't good enough. Nor is publishing a Privacy Policy any meaningful guarantee of privacy. Companies have myriad responsibilities to their customers and shareholders, and rightly expect their partners to take the utmost care of any and all information entrusted, whether stamped 'Confidential' or not.

Our default position has always been to regard and respect ALL information as confidential and over 12 years our IT systems and office procedures have become ever tighter. But in spring 2007 we took the decision to get independently audited by as tough a body as possible - The British Standards Institute (BSI) - and seek formal recognition for our information security management system.

We passed the examination at first attempt and are pleased to join a select few that can boast ISO 27001 Information Security certification. Reaching and maintaining this global standard with regular ongoing audits by the BSI is evidence of our ongoing commitment to excellence. After all, if information matters then excellence matters, really matters.
