Not all of the construction sector is in trouble right now - far from it. We have long been proud to work with Wates, and so shared their delight as their turnover recently passed the £1bn mark for the first time. This dynamic, innovative company continues to raise the bar in all aspects of its operation, and continues to invest in people too. But in seeking further growth, Wates recognises that securing the best people is something its competitors are also trying to do - so how can it stand above its rivals for attracting talent?
Following a 3-way pitch, we were delighted to be appointed to deliver Wates' first dedicated careers site. Taking a live feed from a specialist 3rd party vacancies engine, our newly launched site effectively wraps the compelling Wates employee proposition around the jobs available. Our innovative approach gives users multiple navigation and search options - from interactive map to job description filters, and there is the further option to subscribe to vacancy alerts for specific roles. Users can also read about the working lives of numerous different employees, then search for jobs that are similar to those just viewed.
Having researched the key values of our client and really got to grips with their DNA, our winning concept of 'A business built on people' was brought to life in an engaging and highly creative manner. Firstly, we structured the company story in a wholly new way - one that put the wants and needs of potential recruits first. Having agreed an optimised IA, we moved on to the pretty stuff. From conceiving and art directing the shoot through to full site design, animation, build, systems integration and hosting, we are pleased to have played a small but attractive part in the next stage of Wates' impressive story of growth.
