In 1985 Direct Line revolutionised the rules for personal lines insurance by cutting out the middleman and selling direct to the customer, forcing the industry to change the way it sold insurance - forever. At the end of 2007, in partnership with Monitor Media, they did it again, by providing insurance cover direct to small businesses, via the web and the phone. Just 3 months after launch, the speed and scale of success was deemed "astonishing".

Setting new standards in technical excellence and web usability, the customer journey starts with our newly designed static site, a search engine friendly portal to the policy system itself. Once visitors identify the policy they're looking for, they are redirected from the portal to an extremely sophisticated and totally secure web enabled quote and buy system.

User confidence is inspired at every step, thanks to a combination of superb graphic design, careful copywriting of the question sets, slick implementation of Ajax technology, clear signposting and progress measurement, and industry-leading levels of usability and accessibility. Notable features include on-demand floating context sensitive help, on-the-fly form validation, filter-as-you-type mechanisms and real time quotation adjustments allowing users to see the effect of policy modifications.

As a case study this barely scratches the surface of what we did. We're especially proud of the project; the speed with which we delivered it, the value we added throughout its development, the extent of our project management responsibility and the level of ongoing support we continue to provide.
